Samak rice is high in fibre, keeps digestion smooth and helps lower cholesterol. It is a good source of essential minerals such as phosphorus, zinc and folate, vitamins A, C and E which are essential for overall health and immunity.

Ingredients
- ¼ Cup samak rice
- Milk 300 ml
- 1 tablespoon of freshly grated coconut
- Almonds (5-6), soaked and sliced
- Saffron (kesar) 4-5 strands
- Shakkar 1-2 teaspoon (Minimal amount as per your taste)
- Green cardamom powder – ¼ teaspoon
Method
- Wash the samak rice. Then drain and keep it aside.
- Heat milk in a deep pan and bring it to a boil.
- Add the Samak rice to it and keep stirring to avoid sticking of samak at the bottom.
- Cook on a low heat till the milk thickens a little. Add grated coconut and saffron along with milk.
- Boil till samak becomes soft.
- When the kheer starts to thicken, add sliced almonds, shakkar and green cardamom powder.
- Serve it hot or chilled.
