Puffed Rice Poha

This puffed rice poha is tangy, spicy, sweet and sour, a riot of flavours but is still good for your health. It is therefore an ideal recipe for weight watchers who have food cravings and love to binge on tasty snacks.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cup puffed rice
  • 1 medium size onion (chopped)
  • 1 medium size tomato (chopped)
  • Green chilli (chopped)
  • 1 tsp oil
  • ½ teaspoon rai (mustard) dana
  • 1 teaspoon of sesame seeds (til)
  • 5-10 peanuts
  • 4-5 curry leaves
  • Salt and spices as per taste
  • ½ lemon

Method:

  1. Wash the puffed rice and soak for 5-10 mins.
  2. Squeeze the puffed rice properly and keep aside.
  3. Take a pan. Put one teaspoon oil. When it turns hot, add the rai seeds. Let them pop then add onions and curry leaves.
  4. Sauté for few minutes and then add chopped tomatoes with rest of the ingredients except lemon.
  5. Mix it well and cover the pan with a lid for 2 minutes, on low flame.
  6. Squeeze the lemon and serve hot.

DCN TIP

One can always add different seasonal vegetables like beans, zucchini, spinach and carrot etc. to get maximum nourishment and create a variation of the recipe.
